PROVEN PROTECTION. PROVEN PERFORMANCE.TM

With so many different industries and applications to where head protection is required, there are many categories and styles of head protection to consider. Dynamic® offers an extensive line of head protection products to ensure that you remain protected in all situations and the below guide will aid you in selecting the proper head safety item.

ANSI Z89.1 Type I & II

HEAD PROTECTION DISTINCTIONS

Hardhats and Safety Helmets are classified by ANSI standard Z89.1 and CSA standard 94.1 as Type I for top of head protection or Type II for lateral impact protection. Both types are tested for impact attenuation and penetration resistance.Hardhats and Safety Helmets are classified by ANSI standard Z89.1 and CSA standard 94.1 as Type I for top of head protection or Type II for lateral impact protection. Both types are tested for impact attenuation and penetration resistance.

TYPE I

Designed to protect workers from objects and blows that come from above, or from contact with fixed objects (exposed beams, pipes, etc.) that strike the top of the head. Type I head protection items are tested for reduction of impact or penetration, but do not include a chinstrap test or other specific requirements.

TYPE II

Protect both the top and sides of the head and incorporate a foam liner designed to absorb the force of impact with the head form swiveled at 60° in any direction so that the point of impact is off center. In addition to impact energy attenuation from all sides and off-center penetration resistance, Type II items are test for chin strap retention as well.

ELECTRICAL CLASSES

Three classes indicate a helmet′s electrical insulation rating

Class E - Electrical

Non-vented, reduces the danger of contact with high voltage risks and proof tested at 20,000 volts

Class C - Conductive

Vented, provides no electrical protection for the wearer

EXTREME PERFORMANCE - HEAT RESISTANCE

Tested to maintain comfortable temperatures for workers in sustained high temperature environments

HEAD PROTECTION STYLES

Hardhat

HARDHAT

The most common form of head protection, with Type I Class E the most widely used hart hat style. Features include secure and adjustable suspension with a robust wheel ratchet to provide the ideal fit for each user.

Safety Helmet

SAFETY HELMET

A relatively new concept in industrial and construction settings, safety helmets feature an adjustable multi-point chinstrap designed to keep the helmet on the head in the event of a fall and a short brim design for unobstructed peripheral vision.

Bump Cap

BUMP CAP

Bump caps are designed to protect against minor incidents such as bumping into or knocking against a stationary object (i.e. ideal for low ceilings, hanging obstructions). They are not ANSI approved to protect against falling objects or projectiles.
