The speed at which the abrasive particles are traveling. The higher the velocity the faster the user is able to clean, etch, sculpts, deburr, finish or peen the material they are working on.
The more abrasive particles being propelled against the material being worked on the faster the job can be completed.
The distance between your nozzle and the material being worked on.
By increasing the distance between the nozzle and the material you will have a larger blast pattern, which equates to a larger surface being “cleaned” in the same amount of time, thus increasing productivity.
Pros: Pressure Cabinets will move a large volume media with a high velocity resulting in a larger stand off distance. These cabinets are excellent for productivity.
Cons: This type of cabinet will have more moving parts in comparison to a Suction based system and may become pricier for repairs. The initial cost for this type of unit is higher than it’s Suction counterpart.
Pros: Lower upfront cost and maintenance/repair costs. Blasting is continuous because there is no pressure blast pot.
Cons: Lower velocity, and shorter standoff distance.
A worn nozzle will demand more abrasives and use more air than a new one. By replacing worn nozzles you can save money spent on abrasive and increase productivity.
