Select platform height, also known as "top step height", based on the operations being performed.
Platform height is where the user generally stands. Make sure you have minimum clearance of 6 to 7 feet from the ceiling
or any object suspended from the ceiling to ensure the user has room to stand safely.
Maximum convenient working height is 5 feet to 6 feet above the platform height.
For bulky loads, consider a stairway slope ladder and/or a deeper top step.
Consider limitations on ladder dimensions imposed by doorways, aisle widths and corners. For tight spaces and maximum
maneuverability you have the option of choosing from our line of narrow, all-directional and tilt-n-roll ladders. Mechanics/Maintenance
rolling ladders are manufactured with a double-straddle base allowing workers to be in close proximity for hard-to-reach
Please note that the load capacity considered should be the combined weight of the user and materials.
Safety ratio used by Kleton and required by Canadian regulations is 4:1. As a result a 300 lbs. capacity Kleton rolling
ladder has been tested to hold up to 1,200 lbs.
Please note that the steel gauging along with the construction of the unit (welded versus knocked down) will have an
impact on the load capacity.
Typical incline of a rolling ladder is designed for the user to ascend and descend facing the steps. However, there are
ladders available in the market that provide an incline of 50 degrees allowing the user to descend facing forward while
carrying heavier and bulkier objects.
Steel; for all around general purposes.
Stainless; for corrosive environments, as well as outdoor use.
Aluminum; Like stainless, they are corrosion resistant making them ideal for both indoor and outdoor use. These ladders
generally weigh less which makes them easier to maneuver.
Abrasive Mat Tread
Great in a clean room environment
Expanded Metal Tread
This aggressive tread is ideal for the warehouse or retail floor.
This design is self-cleaning allowing foot debris to fall through the tread.
Provides excellent slip resistance.
This tread design is used extensively in retail and storeroom applications.
The most aggressive.
This tread design is ideal for the shop floor or any industrial application where maximum slip resistance is required.
Weight-actuated lock step; this step automatically locks when 70 lbs. of weight is applied to the stair section (regardless
of which step).
Standard lock step; ideal for applications over 6 steps. These ladders are raised into the rolling position when the
lock step is actuated. Releasing the lock step drops the ladder into the position with the feet firmly on the floor.
Spring-loaded casters; ideal for shorter ladders 6 steps and below. The wheels retract under the user's weight securing
the ladder to the floor.
Certification / Compliance
To date CSA has not created a regulation for the use of rolling ladders within the Canadian market. As consumers it is
important to note that CSA (U.S. division) do certify units to the ANSI A14.7 standard. Our line of Kleton rolling ladders
are manufactured in Canada, welded by CWB certified welders and are certified by the CSA U.S. division to the ANSI A14.7
