What you need to have on hand for a flood:

Do not try to walk or drive through flooded waters
Follow routes designated by officials, as shortcuts can be blocked or dangerous

What you need following a flood:
Use extreme caution when returning to your home or place of work
Ensure an electrician has determined it is safe before turning on main power
Do not use electrical panels or appliances until they have been thoroughly cleaned and inspected
Look for damage to floors and walls, as well as broken glass and other potentially dangerous debris
Use the appropriate safety equipment if contact with flood water is necessary, such as gloves, masks and other protective gear
Ventilate or dehumidify your property until completely dry
Use appropriate cleaners to disinfect floors, walls and all items that made contact with flood waters
If mould is present, ensure the appropriate safety gear is used when cleaning affected areas
